First digital telephone station "Elcom" was put into operation in 1996 in Dashkovo-Pesochnoe district, Ryazan, with capacity of 3 200 telephone numbers. During the following years the system was developed through self-contained equipment of various capacity in several city districts. General capacity amounted to over 15 000 telephone numbers. In 2016 the communication network was modernized with the aid of multi-service equipment "Magelan". It is planned to replace nodal equipment and move it to another platform.
